Is this for you?

If any of this sounds like you, you're in the right place.

DPC Life is for primary care physicians at every stage - whether you're burned out, curious, already in DPC, or just starting to imagine something different.

You've been quietly researching DPC

You've Googled it at midnight. Maybe joined a Facebook group. You're not ready to leap yet, but you're done pretending everything is fine.

You're burned out and need proof a better way exists

The 15-minute appointments, the prior auths, the inbox that never ends. You need to hear from doctors who got out and actually love what they do now.

You're building your DPC practice and figuring it out as you go

You took the leap and now you're in the thick of it. You need real systems, blunt honesty, and someone who gets it.

You want proof you can be a great doctor and still have a life

Not a highlight reel. Not a LinkedIn humble brag. Real physicians showing it's actually possible to have family, patients, and a full life.

About the Host

The Path That
Brought Me Here

Dr. Anne in a clinic setting

Is this actually real?

When I first heard about direct primary care, it sounded too good to be true. A way to take better care of patients, spend more time with my family, and not be crushed by the broken system? Yes, please.

But despite knowing deep down it was the right path, it took me eight years to finally make the leap.

It's a different kind of hard

Making DPC work isn't always effortless, and I am continually learning from the incredible doctors navigating this community. I created this podcast to host the honest, unscripted conversations that happen behind closed doors.

We are sharing the real stories, the hard days, and the unexpected wins so you can build your practice feeling more confident and significantly less alone.

"Do You Take My Insurance?" How Dr. Donna Mayeda Explains DPC Without Feeling Salesy

Most DPC doctors freeze when a patient asks about insurance. Not because they don't believe in what they've built, but because nobody taught them how to talk about money without feeling like a salesperson. This episode changes that.

Burned out in corporate medicine and stuck on how to explain DPC without a 20-minute lecture? This real-time coaching session will change how you talk about your practice, and how you feel about leaving the system.

On Systems & Burnout

Freedom without systems still feels overwhelming. Dr. Noemi Adame built automation into her rural pediatric DPC practice and cut inquiries by 80% while growing her panel 20%. Here's exactly how she did it.

On Making the Leap

When Is It Time to Leave the System for DPC? - Dr. Sandra Koehn on Building Planted DPC Around Her Family and Values

If you keep thinking "there has to be a better way", this is the episode. Dr. Sandra Koehn shares the exact moment she knew she had to leave employed medicine, and how she built a DPC practice in Rochester, NY around her non-negotiables from day one.

This podcast is outstanding and super helpful. I’ve found the advice to be grounded and practical. Both the hosts and guests are vulnerable and open. I especially appreciate the discussion about shiny objects and distractions and boundaries! I’m excited to keep listening!
